The same four-stage process runs on every acquisition, in this order, before anything is listed.

Sourced & Verified

Acquired directly or through established EU trade routes, with ownership history checked at the point of purchase.

II.

Dated & Attributed

Marks, hallmarks, and manufacture details are cross-referenced against period references to fix a date and, where possible, a unit or recipient.

III.

Condition Reported

Wear, repair, and replacement parts are noted plainly in the listing — nothing is re-finished to look newer than it is.

IV.

Catalogued & Numbered

Each piece is assigned a permanent stock reference and entered into the register before it is offered for sale.

Matchlock Historia is a Maltese specialist dealership in historical militaria, decorations, and mechanical antiques, dealing primarily in material sourced from the Mediterranean and wider European theatres.

We work the way a good regimental museum would: date first, describe honestly, and let the object’s own history do the persuading. Every lot is researched before it is listed, and condition is reported in the same plain terms whether it helps the sale or not.
